La Térmica Cultural is getting ready for one of its most awaited performances, La parábola del carbónits first performing arts project that promotes together with the company Saltantes Teatro. For this reason, this morning the members of the cast of this scenic proposal, specially created and conceived around the history of the Compostilla I thermal power plant, have been presented to the media.

Under the direction of Luis Alija from Bierzo, the five performers are Alba Cavero, Enrique Dueñas, Pedro Fernández, Jesús Lavi and María Prendes; in addition to Nuria Trabanco in scenography, Azucena Rico as costume designer and Carlos Dávila as technical and lighting chief. They will be in charge of representing this work, framed in what is called document theater, that is, a work that in its creation process is open and advances according to the contributions and interviews that the creators receive throughout the process of writing and development of the work. Conceived as an unpublished work after a process of documentary research and created expressly for La

Térmica Cultural, the performance focuses on the history of the Compostilla I thermal power plant and its impact on the city and the region.

In the play Juan, a journalist investigating the effects of coal in his community, returns home after many years. He celebrates a party with his school group and, there, they will relive their childhood, sharing their memories in the coal mountain, in the classes, their problems, anecdotes and many experiences they had never stopped to think about. This meeting will somehow influence Juan's research on the effects of industrialization and generational change.

The parable of coal opens this Wednesday, July 3 at 10:00 p.m. and two more screenings will be offered on Sunday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 10, also at the same time. Free tickets can be withdrawn until full capacity on the web www.latermicacultural.es or in person at the reception of La Térmica Cultural.

The selection of the cast began last March and, after a process that has included several casting phases, there are five members of this stage proposal of La parábola del carbón.
