La Térmica Cultural joins the environmental education program 'A museum in green'.

  • The program includes free activities for schools and the general public.
  • It will take place from Wednesday June 7 to Friday June 16 and will combine activities at La Fábrica de Luz. Energy Museum and La Térmica Cultural.
  • Among the novelties are activities related to tree ferns.

The CIUDEN Vivero Center and La Fábrica de Luz. Museo de la Energía organize one more year the environmental education cycle Un museo en verde (A museum in green). Organized around World Environment Day, which is celebrated annually on June 5, the activities will take place from Wednesday, June 7 to Friday, June 16. The aim of this program is to promote awareness of important environmental problems in order to bring about individual and social changes that will lead to environmental improvement and protection.

Among the novelties of this cycle, the proposals related to tree ferns that make up the Green Fire exhibition at La Térmica Cultural stand out. The activities will be developed by renowned professionals in the environmental sector along with teachers and students of the workshops of CIUDEN Vivero, the center from which this initiative arises, and these actions are an important part of the training plan of the Center.

La Térmica Cultural will host a series of free activities between June 13 and 16. The first of them, Who inhabits Fuego Verde? is aimed at schoolchildren and will take place on June 13 and 14 from 11:00 to 12:00. CIUDEN Vivero staff will be in charge of guiding the infant and primary school students through the tree fern specimens.

For his part, Jorge Lorenzo, an expert in tree ferns, will give two guided tours for families that will allow them to learn about these species in detail. On June 15 from 20:00 to 21:00 hours will take place Knowing the arborescent ferns of Fuego Verde, a tour of the specimens that make up the collection of La Térmica Cultural. On June 16 at 7:30 p.m. the cycle will conclude with Let's talk about ferns, in which Jorge Lorenzo will talk about the origins and current uses of these species in gardening, in a meeting that begins in the cafeteria La Central and ends in Fuego Verde.

This new edition of A museum in green presents a varied offer aimed at the general public and school children and primary school children. Due to the limited capacity, in order to participate it will be necessary to register in advance by contacting the museum by telephone at 987 400 800, by e-mail at guias@ciuden.es or at the ticket office of La Fábrica de Luz.
