The Ponferrada Classical Camerata travels to the most beautiful and refreshing landscapes of Brazil by the hand of two of its most relevant composers: Heitor Villa-Lobos and Neyrosauro. The journey begins with the Bachianas Brasileiras by Villalobos, a cycle of pieces with which he intended to synthesize the two loves of his life: Bach and the folklore of his country. This work connects the baroque current with the delicate elegance of the rhythms of the Ibero-American country.
The journey continues with Neyrosauro, percussionist and composer from Rio de Janeiro. The Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra No. 1 is his best known work. This piece has been performed by more than three thousand orchestras around the world before reaching the Camerata. Its 4 movements integrate Brazilian rhythms, seasoned with jazz motifs, enveloping the audience in a melodic halo.
The performance of the Soloists of the Ponferrada Classical Camerata is part of the Dinamiz-ARTj program promoted by the Institute for Just Transition (ITJ) and the City of Energy Foundation (CIUDEN) to boost cultural activity in the municipalities affected by the closure of mining and thermal and nuclear power plants and to promote the careers of young artists living in these territories.
