We invite you to the screening of the documentary film "Cigarreres", directed by Alejandro Nafría and Pablo A. Quiroga, and produced by Algamar and Acción en Red, next Sunday, November 17th at 12:00h in the Anthracite Auditorium of La Térmica Cultural. The screening will be followed by a discussion open to the public.
"Cigarreres" takes us into the story of a group of women who, at a time when few had access to factory work, formed a unique matriarchal community. These cigarreras not only overcame fear and managed to carve out a space for themselves in the labor market, but also left an indelible mark on the culture and social movements of their city. The film highlights their vindictive spirit and their capacity for self-management, prioritizing nurturing, health and mutual support among themselves.
This documentary is a tribute to these courageous women, whose legacy continues to inspire new generations.
