Return to Hansala (2008) brings to an end DiBierzo, a film-colloquium cycle created by actress Mapi Galán and developed throughout 2023 at La Térmica Cultural. After the screening of the film, the spectators will participate in a colloquium with its director, Chus Gutiérrez, to exchange reflections and impressions on the work in a debate moderated by Mapi Galán herself.
At the beginning of this century, the bodies of eleven young Moroccan immigrants who were trying to cross the Strait of Gibraltar in a patera appear on the beaches of Rota. All of them come from the same village, Hansala. This event will unite the destinies of Martin (Jose Luis Garcia Perez), a mortician who intends to do business with what happened, Leila (Farah Hamed), sister of one of the deceased, in the adventure of trying to repatriate the body of the boy in a van.
This film by Chus Gutiérrez obtained two nominations at the Goya Awards for Best Screenplay and Best New Actress. It also won the Special Jury Prize at the Seminci in 2008, the Special Critics' Prize in 2009 and the first prize at the Cairo Festival.
