Lucas García gives a dance and scenic movement workshop as part of 'La parábola del carbón' (complete)

The performing arts project La parábola del carbón, co-produced by Saltantes Teatro and La Térmica Cultural, includes several workshops ranging from acting through dance to document theater, lighting and production. These workshops are free and are aimed at anyone interested, from 16 years old.

The Asturian artist, Lucas García, will give a dance and stage movement workshop under the name Breaking the contemporary, which will take place on May 7, 14, 21 and 28 and June 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Due to limited places, to participate in any of these workshops it will be necessary to register in advance by contacting the e-mail laparaboladelcarbon@gmail.com, indicating the title of the workshop, name and surname, age and if you have any experience in the discipline of the workshop you are registering for.

Important: Those registered commit themselves to attend all the sessions of the course.

  • June 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Objectives

  • Explore the hybridization of different languages: Provide participants with the opportunity to explore the intersection between contemporary dance and breakdance, as well as other urban styles, in order to discover new forms of expression. This in turn will allow the possibility of replicating this model, whether in dance or in any other artistic expression.
  • Promote Collaboration and Body Communication: Facilitate collaboration and the exchange of ideas among participants through movement and group improvisation.
  • Lead to new horizons of Movement: Expand the movement vocabulary of the participants by incorporating elements of breakdance and other urban styles into contemporary dance.

Through the proposed methodology, participants are invited to look beyond their comfort zone, thus expanding their vocabulary and encouraging them to find their uniqueness in dance.

Duration and participants

8 days of 2.5 hours each, with a maximum of 20 participants.

Agenda

  • Exploration 1
    • Introduction to contemporary dance and breakdance as basic disciplines.
    • Analysis of the relationship between different dance styles and how they can influence each other.

  • Tangencies, from the general to the particular
    • Search for contexts in which communication, through 2 or more languages, makes artistic sense.
    • Integration of specific breakdance movements in contemporary dance and vice versa.

  • Improvisation and instant composition
    • Use of improvisation to discover new forms of movement and connection with other participants.
    • Creation of small compositions with the use of the materials worked on during the classes that fuse elements of contemporary dance and breakdance.

Taught by Lucas García

Graduate in Tourism from the University of Oviedo (Spain), Master in Lighting (MasterD) and Co-Director of Meraki Cía. Performing Arts.

She has worked with Dana Raz Dance Project, Frantics Dance Company (DE) and Izadora W eiss / BTT (PL).

He develops his creative work with the company Meraki Cía. receiving several awards for his work. With 7 productions behind him that have traveled to countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Chile among others.
